A New Adventure!

We had a big change this year. After living in Forest Home for the past nine years, Kevin accepted a job with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and we have moved. We are living in the small community of The Rock, Georgia, which is about 60 miles south of Atlanta. It has closely resembled an extended episode from the Beverly Hillbillies, but we have finally finished moving, chickens and horses not forgotten. Everyone has settled in well and waiting to see what comes next!

This is where we will be building our new home. It is an 8 acre parcel that is about two thirds open ground and one third hardwood bottom with a small stream. Click on the photo to see how we are progressing.

The house design is currently hiding somewhere between these two structures; a combination of a Southern barn and an Australian ranch house. We want it to inviting and comfortable.

This is the rental that we will be living in until the house is finished.

This picture was taken the day we started moving in. It is tiny, but we are enjoying living here. It is very convenient to the property we bought and sits on the edge of a small pond. There is an otter that visits the pond, along with a variety of waterfowl. Both the girls are enjoying canoeing and fishing.

Here is the house now, we have cleaned it up a little and planted a few things to soften it up.

March 28, 2007

We had a fantastic day today! Part of Kevin's job includes monitoring the bear population in his area and he invited us to go on a "bear hunt". What we found was something I never thought I would see in the wild! Follow the link below to read more about it and see photos.
